WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

A Quick, Easy, Day-to-Night Look

Go from meetings to happy hour in two simple steps.

We’re women on the go—we’ve got meetings to run, happy hours to attend and a whole lot to do in between. When it comes to looking polished through it all, we like to keep a few reliable tricks up our sleeves.

In the beauty department, we enlisted makeup artist and W3LL People co-founder Shirley Pinkson to teach us a look that’s appropriate for work, and can easily be transitioned to evening with a few quick updates. “Fall is all about a smokey eye,” says Shirley. “The goal with a smokey eye is to achieve a slept-in look. You don’t want to look like you spent hours doing it.” The best part of a smokey eye—aside from the fact that it’s undeniably sexy—is that it’s all you need. “Choose your weapon. It’s all about the eyes with this look.”

Before work

Line Your Eyes

Using black eyeliner, draw a line along your upper lashes. Flick it out at the outer corners to create a little wing.

Keep the Rest of Your Face Neutral

Give your face a subtle wash of color by dabbing a nude color stick on your lips and cheeks with your fingertips.

After work

Smudge Your Liner

Use your fingertip to smudge the “wing” inward, toward the center of your lid.

Add Eyeshadow

Press a deep purple eye shadow on top of the smudged liner with a brush. Keep it restricted to the lower part of the upper lid, near the lashline. Then, use what’s left on your brush and smudge it under your eye.
